MACLURA – Maclura pomifera

It is an arboreal species 8 – 12 meters high with a thick and irregular foliage.

The leaves resemble those of the orange tree, they are alternate, sharp, leathery and were also used in the past to feed silkworms, the fruit is a spherical mass, with a diameter varying from 8 to 15 centimetres, green and wrinkled, of a woody consistency, with a milky juice, it is not edible.
